dan browne (b. 1982, Montreal, Canada) is a filmmaker, photographer and multimedia artist who is interested in the nature of perception. His films and videos have been presented at over fifty festivals and venues around the world, including Rotterdam International Film Festival, Centre Georges Pompidou, EXiS Festival Experimental Film + Video, Festival du nouveau cinéma, and TIFF Cinematheque's The Free Screen. His film memento mori (2012) received the Jury Prize for Best Canadian Work at WNDX Festival of Moving Image, First Prize (Experimental Category) at Athens International Film + Video Festival, the Deluxe Cinematic Vision Award at Images Festival, and was also presented as a live A/V performance and installation. Dan is also a curator with the Loop Collective, a Toronto-based group of artists who seek to promote an interdisciplinary approach to cinema. He holds a B.F.A (Hon) from The School of Image Arts, Ryerson University, a M.A. from the York/Ryerson Joint Graduate Program in Communication and Culture, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the same program, where his research focuses on relationships between technology, embodiment and art.
